With the seniors presentation night last Saturday season 2016 draws to a close. 2016 has been very successful on a number of fronts:
• Continuing re build of junior numbers
• 50% increase in senior teams
• Return to HV Jones (HVJ)
• Amalgamation of Junior & Senior clubs
• Partnering with council for a $250k floodlight upgrade project
• Financial stability
• Gala day
Whether we win or lose our core value is to provide opportunity to all regardless of skill or experience levels. In this respect it is particularly pleasing that our junior members increased almost 50% & the seniors fielded an extra side (female)that catered more specifically for those players who’s skills & experience needed opportunity to develop.
I’m sure that you will agree that we now have a great surface on which to play & train – it was fitting that the very first use of HVJ was the 2016 gala day for the club where much fun was had by everybody.
As one season concludes the planning for another begins with the opening event the Annual General Meeting which will be held at HVJ on Wednesday 19th October at 7:30pm
Now I know this is where a lot of eyes start to glaze over & apathy rises which I get. Any club though is only as strong as its leadership/committee. This year in merging the junior & senior committees together we determined that committee roles would reflect the work that was needed to run the club eg. Everyone would have responsibilities & there would be no general committee members.
The following roles are all vacant once the 2016 committee steps down
• President
• Vice President Juniors *(VPJ)
• Vice President Seniors *(VPS)
• Secretary
• Treasurer
• Operations Director​​bar/canteen
• Facilities Director​​cleaning/tidying
• Ground/equipment director​Line marking/equipment maintenance
• Events Director​​​Socials/gala day/presentation day/night
• Media Director​​​Web site/social media platforms/photos
• Small sided Soccer Co-Ord Co ordinate & lead an introduction to football
Generally >4 years & above
*Both VPJ & VPS will work with volunteers from junior & senior members to assist with developing a positive training & match day experience eg setting up of pitches/equipment, running canteen etc
From 2016 experience we are really encouraging junior parents to get involved if not in a formal committee role (although this is welcomed) then on the support group to the VPJ – in particular we would like to ensure that a canteen is up & running for junior games (note this does not involve purchasing).
